About Us

It’s highly possible that we’re quite mad (in a good way?).

What you see here is a very special independent bookshop started on October 2nd, 2015. We sit across the road from the Upper Hutt Train Station, and next to a popular cafe, Cake and Kitchen.

Writer’s Plot Readers Read Inc is a not for profit Incorporated Society (#2628891)

We stock fiction across all genres by NZ based authors, children’s books and non-fiction. Our books are mainly published by independent small or medium-sized presses or by overseas publishers. Plus we have included some self-published work.

If you are an author and want your book in our shop, please contact us.

Check out our consignment contract (below) then drop your books (we usually take 3 – 5) into the shop with the signed contract or post them to us with the contract.

Consignment-Contract-from-2017 and

If you are a reader and want to know what books we have, sign up to our newsletter or browse through the website. We aim to keep this site as up-to-date as possible with all the books available in the shop.

To become a Member of the Inc Soc and support our wonderful kiwi authors – you can join by completing this form Application form and sending it to us (either by post – PO Box 40555, Upper Hutt 5140 OR scan/email us at writersplotreadersread@outlook.com).

Writers Plot Readers Read think all our books should be printed in NZ. We use both
bookprinting.co.nz. Please tell Chris we recommended you
yourbooks.co.nz – Christine is awesome at supporting local authors (local as in NZ authors)

We were thrilled to have been announced as runner-up in the Arts and Culture category of the Wellington Airport 2019 Regional Community Awards on 3 July 2019. So proud and humbled by all the amazing volunteers and organisations they represent. Thank-you to the Wellington Airport, the Wellington Community Trust and Upper Hutt Council.
