Dear Writers Plot Bookshop friends,
It’s with sadness that we announce the closing of Writers Plot Bookshop, 893 Fergusson Drive, Upper Hutt from 2.30pm Saturday 4th March 2023.
Various issues are inhibiting us from being in the physical shop, we have had to take the decision to scale back and refocus on our online shop at www.writersplot.org.nz/shop
We have had a great run (7 years) with the shop and have helped a lot of authors sell their books, and readers connect with new authors. A number of things have changed over the years that the shop has been open. NZ authors are starting to get more exposure with local online sites and new indie bookshops starting up, promoting and selling their work, and we believe this shop helped start that.
Due to ongoing health issues with Cat and Caro, the running of the shop has become too much, and with a lack of volunteers to take on the tasks, we have decided to call it time.
Finally, we want to thank all of our regular customers for their support and loyalty over the last seven years.
We have loved being a part of the community promoting NZ authors and publishers, talking to our customers and introducing them to new books they may never have seen without the shop.
You will still be able to find us on social media sites, and we invite you to browse our books on our website.
If you are unsure what to do – we will reply to all emails and happy to accomodate those who struggle to use online sites.

HISTORY
What is Writers Plot Bookshop? It’s an independent bookshop that started on 2 October 2015. The physical shop was located in Upper Hutt, across the road from the Upper Hutt Train Station and next to the Cake & Kitchen cafe.
All our books are available in our online shop – but please email us if you have any issues using the site.
We specialise in Aotearoa New Zealand (Kiwi) authors – by birth or by choice. If you are looking for a book by a particular kiwi author and can’t find it – ask us about it and we will order it in for you.
Writer’s Plot Readers Read Inc is a not for profit Incorporated Society (#2628891) also known as, Writers Plot Bookshop.
We stock fiction across all genres, children’s books and non-fiction by Kiwi authors. Our books are published by independent presses, or supplied by the author from their overseas publisher. We also include some self-published work. As a not-for-profit, we cannot purchase stock from distributors.

If you are a reader and want to know what books we have, sign up to our newsletter or browse through the website. We aim to keep this site as up-to-date as possible with all the books available in the shop.
At Writers Plot Bookshop, we believe we should print our books in Aotearoa New Zealand. We use both bookprinting.co.nz (please tell Chris we recommended him to you), yourbooks.co.nz (Christine is awesome at supporting local authors) and www.copypress.co.nz (helping NZ authors publish their books for over twenty-five years.)
