Bruce Melrose is the author of five novels following the exploits of John Kelly, an aspiring middle-distance runner, then unwitting coach, to a new generation of athletes who bring a whole raft of altogether different problems.
Recently, Bruce finished two action-adventure/thriller stories set in the South Pacific. His first novel, For Past Sins is due later this year, while Coconut Milk Run, is scheduled for 2023.
Bruce is currently penning another story, also set in the South Pacific, this one with a working title of Smuggler.
Our author in focus this week: Claudia Disney
Born in The Netherlands, Claudia loved books from an early age. Her father worked in a paper factory, regularly bringing home books that were destined for the book graveyard.
Claudia dreamed of writing her own book one day. She wrote short stories for magazines when she was eight and even drew the first few pages of a cartoon book. Unfortunately, the magazines did not accept her stories, and Claudia moved to other hobbies.
Many years later, she wrote her first trilogy and self-published it. Claudia has not stopped writing since and hopes to create many more enjoyable books.
Meet the Author: Pat Whitaker
Thursday 19 May 2022 from 2pm
Pat will be at the Writers Plot Bookshop to talk about and sign his books.
Being a fan of both science fiction and classic murder mysteries, Pat has these as common themes, with elements of both often combined in a single story. As a person who likes to read a book in a single sitting, Pat normally limits each work to around forty-five or fifty thousand words.
Of his books, Mindset, Antithesis, Returning and Nmemesis were finalists for the Sir Julius Vogel Awards – Best Adult Novel between 2009-2012, plus he received Best New Talent in 2009.
