The Ngaio Marsh Awards, in association with the Waipa District Council, invites booklovers to an event featuring four talented storytellers from the Waikato & Bay of Plenty.

As crime writing has evolved from puzzle-like mysteries to novels delving deeply into people and places, it has continued to intrigue readers around the world. But what makes the genre so captivating?

2020 Ngaio Marsh Awards entrant and debut author Christina O’Reilly is joined by Cambridge crime writer and 2018 Ngaios finalist Nikki Crutchley, Rotorua author Zoe Rankin, and #1 bestselling author Julie Thomas to discuss what draws them to tales of mystery and mayhem, how they create memorable characters, and the impact of our local settings and universal themes on their books.
