It was Arawa in the 1950’s. somewhare in the centre of the North Island, miles off the main trunk line, dominated by the neighbouring mountain and the cold, harsh weather of the hight country.
To Arawa came Louise and her school teacher husband Tom, fresh from the city. The stage was set and the characters waiting. Tom the Headmaster is readily cast, but Louise remains an outsider. Slowly she too is drawn in, and finds herself in a role that nearly destroys the apparent serenity of the town.

This is a second hand book.
