Maggy and Jenny would visit Mrs Crinkle on the way home from school. Just to check she was OK.
When Mrs Crinkle knew we were coming she would make pikelets. But she made soggy pikelets.
What would the girls do with the bag of pikelets Mrs Crinkle had given them to take home?

The story in this book tells you, very loosely, the memory that is triggered for the author, Trish Gray, when pikelets are mentioned, and what happened to her Nana’s pikelets.

Jonathan Langley, the illustrator, has received many accolades and awards for his paintings. He was very excited about illustrating this book because it can be quite a leap from creating paintings to doing illustrations for text.
