Illustrated by Dale Percy.

Multi-coloured bulldozers, huge commercial fishing boats, creates of fresh fish and a rugged coastline are all part of a day’s work. Their trip takes them up through the Wairarapa valley to deliver the fish to the processing factory … and then back home for a well-earned treat for dinner.

Mr Phelps provides a vital connection between fish being caught at sea and it being eaten by children from their dinner plates (or from fish and chip wrappers!). The story highlights to children the real people who do important but often unseen work in their communities and reflects the culture of small-town New Zealand.

This is a lovely toddlers/new readers tale that rhymes, accompanied by delightfully detailed illustrations.
