I loved reading this book, it has good plot, it is a page turner and I found I could not put it down, but then I like books like this where a whole series of generations are followed.

AJ –
An intriguing tale of love that society frowns upon due to social status and class divisions. The lady of the manor is in love with one of her employees who tends beautiful orchids. Marriage between them can never happen so when he marries and has a son, she insists on ‘helping’ with the son’s education and upbringing. Set in the early 1900’s, the story of the son, Edward, unfolds into confusion, as he is pulled between two families with social culture and expectations at completely opposite ends of the spectrum. The story follows him through the first world war, into his own marriage and subsequently the consequences of secrecy, social expectations, and personal conflicts created by his upbringing that weave a thread throughout three generations and take on a life of their own that Edward can not control. I was literally on the edge of my seat towards the last few pages!
