Description
Te Kooti retires into the sanctuary of the Urewera mountains and an uneasy peace returns to the east coast. Three platoon patrol the district and establish cordial relationships with the residents. In the case of some of its members, relationships are very cordial indeed.
Seeking revenge for his imprisonment, Te Kooti returns to Poverty Bay. After slaughtering both Māori and Pakeha men, women and children, he heads for his Urewera fastness again. the chase is on.
In an endeavour to create a force that can ‘out-think, out-march, out-shoot and out-wit Te Kooti’ a combined Māori/Pakeha unit is created. Three Platoon and a Ngati Porou war party combine to become Nga Kahu, the Hawks. They are soon at the forefront of the pursuit.
