Couldn’t put this book down. I love this series, the detail, the characters and the way the team are shaped. This book gripped be from beginning to end. If you’re looking for a crime book with an edge then Cat Connor is your author. This was the first book I read but it certainly won’t be the last.

Cat Connor’s 11th FBI procedural mystery, in what is known as the BYTE SERIES, delivers another fast paced page turner. Connor is a proponent of Elizabeth George’s “Character is story and Dialogue is Character”. Her lead character agent Ellie Iverson and her Delta teams are well defined women and men who come alive off the page in dialogue that propels action. The stripped down descriptions and real life dialogue contain the humor and jostling from a talented collection of individuals who are used to operating as a law enforcement team in high stress violent and chaotic situations. As a bonus, Agent Iverson has psychic abilities that waiver between hallucinations, recalled PTSD and traumatic inducing events and a gift for conjuring up deceased fellow agents and friends who help her solve the Crytobyte mystery. The plot’s resolution finally comes together and without giving anything away, I will never be able to handle another snow globe. Writers of character driven police stories will be well advised to take note of how Connor handles her robust story telling while moving the plot lines to their inexorable finale.
