It started with a few text messages between friends. It expanded into a popular daily web publication, followed by tens of people who live at the intersection of New Zealandisms, German-speakery, literary mindedness, and Became Weird.

On the left-hand pages are 75 of the most beloved poems of the public domain German-language lyric verse tradition, faithfully reproduced in the original.

On the right, you will not find the conventional translations. Rather, two Kiwis take the ideas and themes of a couple of dozen Germans (with some Austrians and Swiss thrown in), pull their words and ideas to bits and shunt them round the back in place.
