Description

He is a young man who has much to learn when taken unwillingly from his apprenticeship as a surveyor in Dannevirke to Rakau Tangi, a mill managed and invested in by his father. Through times of danger and constant change, including relief work and other employment during the years of the depression, there are humourour and heroic moments.
Underpinning the story is the question, ‘Will he have the opportunity to follow his dream?’
